Parents here is all the info we covered at the meeting. Please let ups know if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
  1. Welcome & Schedule:  Coach Carpenter
  1. Coaching Duties and Philosophies:
    1. Carpenter-Sprints, Hurdles & Relays
    2. Upshaw-Weights, Throws & Jumps
    3. Young-Distance and Middle Distance (introduce Jennifer Carter – Volunteer Assistant)
  2. Indoor Track Meet:
    1. Vanderbilt HS Invitational, February 6th
    2. State Indoor Meet at ETSU on 2/28 for those that qualify
  3. Need for FAT marks early to qualify for meets later in the year – CCS & Early Bird at Riverdale provide that
  4. Spring Break Meets – Early Bird (Murfreesboro) & Tri-Cities Track Classic (Johnson City, TN)
  5. Paperwork (Physicals, Consent, Concussion, and cardiac arrest forms) MUST HAVE ALL

  1. Budget for season:  Coach Young
  1. $100 participation fee per athlete (Meet Fees, Team supplies, training tools, equipment, travel expense, etc.)
  2. Fund Raisers:  Banner sponsors for State Champ sign, Elementary School Meet, & private donations
  3. Sportswear:
    1. Sports booster wear: www.gosmeagles.com. All orders are done online. Orders must be submitted by Feb. 7th
    2. Nike apparel: Leigh Sanders & Jill Ethridge
    3. New jerseys this season

  1. Clean Up Day Sunday 2/7 or 2/21 (weather date) 2PM:  Coach Young
  1. Blowers
  2. Weed Eaters and mechanical edger
  3. High Jump Pit Moved

  1. Communication:  Coach Carpenter
    1. Check website regularly: www.smtrackandcc.com
    2. Athlete Questionnaire:  Google Form

  1. Volunteer Committee: Coach Carpenter
  1. Need a chairman
  2. Home Track Meet Volunteer opportunities:  concession, score table, bathroom stocking & clean up, trash pick-up, field events (raking pit, setting up high jump bar, retrieving shot/discus, etc.)
  3. Banquet: Options:  May 13, May 19, or May 20
  4. Photographer(s)- Save pictures and be upload to Google Drive at the end of the year. Videos too!

  1. Nutrition / Yoga / Training: Coach Upshaw
  1. We have access to a Nutritionist
  2. ATI for severe soreness and injuries
  3. Team Yoga Sessions with Misty
  4. Education and Communication is key to keeping our athletes healthy

  1. Goals for Season – Coach Carpenter
  1. Continue to grow the overall number of athletes and build program from bottom up
  2. Build team unity among all aspects of the team
  3. Increase numbers in each event & cover all events (i.e. triple jump)
  4. Get as many athletes to the A-AA East Sectional meet at CAK in Knoxville as possible
  5. Work on feeder program (communication with middle school, Thrasher & Nolan through Elementary School meet).
  6. Continue to build upon success that has been started.
