Welcome to the 2017 Track and Field season! Our informational parent meeting will be Monday, February 6th @ 6:00pm in the media center. We will be going over all the necessary information for the season including: track meet schedule, the elementary school meet, budget, track cleanup day, communication, volunteer committee, and other important information. We look forward to seeing you all!
Parents and Athletes,
Here is the fall break training schedule. We will have practice Tuesday @ 8am. This is a very important workout for everyone. If you cannot attend the team practice do the workout on your own. Text a coach if you have questions. Thursday will be our last CCCL Meet. The meet will be at Heritage HS in Catoosa county. Race times are 5:00, 5:40 and 6:20 as normal. This race is vitally important for varsity runners. The meet will conclude with league championship awards. Saturday, Oct. 15 we will be doing something a little different. We are going to have practice at Cookeville HS in Cookeville, TN. We realize this is a long way to drive to practice, but this will be the location of our Region Championship on October 25th. We ran region here 2 years ago and honestly got our butts kicked, because we weren’t familiar with the course. We will not let that happen again. We will meet at Pruett’s at 7:30am and caravan to Cookeville. Once there the team will do a workout that involves running the course several times to become familiar with it. Afterwards we can all go to lunch somewhere before heading back to SM.
Thank you for all you do to make our team successful.

Parents, Athletes and Fans,
Here is the volunteer signup sheet for the lap-a-thon. You all did great last year at signing up and helping make the Lap-a-thon successful. We’ll do what we’ve done in previous year and set up a table in the high jump area where athletes can take a break, rehydrate and refuel for more laps! If you sign up to be a lap counter, I’ll be at the finish line to help with names. It’s a pretty easy process. If anyone would like to bring post lap-a-thon breakfast food, that would be good too! I’m sure the kids would really like that. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all you do!
Here an outline of the training schedule for the next 2 weeks, which includes a night filled with fun at Fleet Feet.
We will be back to practice 5 days a week starting tomorrow (Monday, August 1st). We will have a couple more days of 8:30am before making the switch to 3:00pm. Please go over the schedule with your athlete(s).
Tuesday, August 2 we will have our first annual shoe/spike night at Fleet Feet. Steve and Jennifer Carter have graciously agreed to host this fun event for our team and offer discounts on what you purchase. We’ll meet at Fleet Feet at 6pm, get new shoes/spikes, go for a run on the North Shore, then come back to Fleet Feet for Pizza and drinks!
Cross Country summer practice is here! Our first practice is Monday, June 13th at 8:30am in the soccer field pavilion. Our first few practices will not be very long, as the runs the kids are doing are relatively short. Practice will be over around 10:00am. We will meet an additional 3 times during June. We will meet June 16, 20, and 23rd. Once the dead period is over we will meet 5 days a week. The red group schedule is only for EXPERIENCED runners. The black group schedule our entry level schedule that will be used by most of the boys and girls on the team. If you have a question about which schedule your athlete should be following, please let me know.
New Athlete Physicals online system:
Signal Mountain has finally made the jump into the 21st century and adopted a new online based system for all the paperwork that you have to fill out every year. Parents will need to create an account on: https://signalmountaineagles-tn.e-ppe.com/index.jspa and upload all their completed forms to the system. Once they are loaded and approved, coaches will be able to see that the athlete is cleared to practice. I’ve attached the instructions that our athletic trainer Amanda Yother created. If you have any questions about the new system please direct those to email@example.com
Cross Country Camp:
We will be attending the Bryan College Cross Country Camp again this year. This was a great team camp last year where everyone was able to get in lots of running and build some great team comradery. Here is a link to the registration page: http://www.bryanlions.com/2016_Cross_Country_Camp I realize that is says deposits were due by May 31st, but Coach Bradley knows we are coming and bringing our whole team. We are attending session 2: July 25th to 28th. Please register as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please let me know.
As always please let me know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to a fantastic summer filled with lots of running and training!
